Such a cool idea. A friend of Loyd and I says this pic is his mission statement.
To equip the next generation of leaders for service.
In many ways this is our job as youth pastors. To hand our spiritual sons and daughters the family sword.
mmmmm that would be a good sermon.

| Have you ever gone through phases in your life when you had lots of superficial friendships, and very few good friends who just "get you"? I have just come out of two years of that. Of course I know I have my teenagers at church...but I am SUCH a social person and there is something to be said for friends your own age. The only problem for me is that I don't really fit in with the whole yuppie young mom scene. BUT God is good, and he has started to bring some amazingly cool people into my life who actually like me for who I am. It is such a good feeling to have those kind of friendships where you can just look at each other and know what the other is thinking. You both can crack up laughing at something that someone else would think is stupid. You can be yourself, with all your quirks and annoyingness and they still love you. A friendship where you cheer one another along and are kind with each other's dreams. You can even disagree, but that does not keep you from being friends. I have had VERY few of these friendships in my life and I thank God for those that I do have.
May God send us all more. |
